Conclusion for Teachers

After completing this WebQuest, your students will have had a solid introduction to the early colonization of America by the British at Plymouth. They should have an understanding of what motivated colonization and how it impacted the Native people. They should be able to look at colonization from the perspectives of both the colonists and the Wampanoag people and to see beyond the usual simplifications of this complex period in our history.

The incorporation of information literacy skills such as critical thinking, comparison and contrast, and analyzing the viewpoint or intent of different sources is a major goal of this project. Students should begin to grasp that history is often not concrete, but can be presented differently by groups with different points of view.

As this WebQuest activity draws to a close, stop to reflect on what worked well, what could be improved, and most importantly, whether the activity sparked student interest and fostered learning.
